Happy New Year!
I took some time off, more than I anticipated, to take care of my health and the newest member of our family, but I was not idle. In an attempt to nurture my creative side without using too much mental or physical energy, I took up nail art. I owned a nail and skin salon in another life and I have admired the artistry behind nail art for a very long time, long before it was popular.
I loaded up my Pinterest board, purchased dotting pens, nail art brushes, and striping tape to add to my never-ending collection of nail polish on the hopes that I could actually emulate some of the creations I admired. Not as easy as it looks. I wish Nail’d It!, a nail art competition show on the Oxygen network was showing before I started so I would have had more realistic expectations. But I did enjoy seeing one of my favorite nail bloggers, Sara Waite from Chalkboard Nails demonstrate nail art techniques.
See some of my nail art, my very bad nail art, but nail art nonetheless in the gallery.
I know nothing about photography or any of the nuances that make for good visual nail art. I can’t even paint a straight line yet, but I am going to to practice and share my attempts with you. I also take part in a monthly nail art challenge. The Lacquer Legion has a monthly nail are challenge for novice and pro alike. It’s interesting to see how some of the participants interpreted the concept. I would be lying if I said that newbie nail art is often acknowledged, but I look at it as something to aspire to. One day, my work will be worth mentioning too. Please share your nail art and I will post it here and join me in the Lacquer Legions nail art challenge. If you hear of any other nail art challenges, let me know so I can post them here.
If you are into nail art, please share your work and I will post it here then join me in the Lacquer Legions nail art challenge. If you hear of any other nail art challenges, let me know so I can post them here.
I am not one for resolutions, but I believe in reinvention and I have reinvented myself MANY times out of necessity and boredom. StylEnigma is going through a reinvention out of necessity and boredom as well, will always be a work in progress. Look forward to a new site design, an event calendar, more social media interaction, and fashion, health, and beauty media from around the world.
Have you ever reinvented yourself and why?
