How to Build the Perfect Palette For You (Video)

As a cheerleader for individuality, I thought this article from Beautylish “How To Build the Perfect Palette For You”  provided excellent information on how to individualize your makeup. The system that the site is touting is Inglot, and I have to admit, the article has a great deal of useful information and the Inglot system is extensive and impressive. Personalized palettes are nothing new, most popular brands appear to have some form of personalization. Personalized palettes can be more expensive than ready made palettes, but if you look at the colors you are not using, you’ll see that you are actually wasting money.

“With Inglot, the possibilities are limitless. All you need is your imagination!”

Coastal Scents and Mary Kay also allow you to select your eye shadows, blushes, lip sticks/glosses, and powders à la carte, which limits clutter and saves money. I am particularly impressed with Mary Kay’s personalized system because they educate the consumer with Color Theory, so you know what your colors actually are, something the other systems don’t appear to provide.

MAC has custom eyeshadow and blush options, but it is a bit pricey; $33 for a two shadow palette. (It’s so cool because it is interactive and you can name your palettes.) As tempting as it is, don’t buy limited edition palettes (or limited edition anything) just because they are ‘limited edition’ unless it suits you AND you are going to use it. (I say this as I am on Sephora looking at the Pantone Color of The Year Collection.)

We’ve all done it; bought an eyeshadow(s) on a whim, thinking that we can pull it off with the right makeup, and/or outfit, and/or accessories, only to rarely or never use it. Save your money. Seriously…
